How long is my capital locked up?

Most deals lock up your money for 3–10 years on average. You can't withdraw early like you can from a savings account. Secondary markets exist, but liquidity is limited.

When you invest in a private deal through Wealt, your capital is typically locked up until an "exit event" occurs - such as an IPO, acquisition, or fund distribution.

Can you exit early?

In some cases, yes, via the secondary market. You can sell your position to another buyer.

However, please keep in mind that:

  • Finding a buyer is not guaranteed

  • The sale price may be below your purchase price

  • The company may exercise ROFR and block or redirect the sale

  • Transfer processing typically takes 30–90 days

Only invest money you won't need for the duration of the lock-up. If you might need the funds in 2 years, private investments are likely not suitable for that portion of your portfolio.
